Lancer Pride Soars: Historic Wins and Upcoming Events at MLHS

This past weekend was one for the history books at Manitowoc Lutheran High School, as both the Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Football teams delivered thrilling victories and advanced further than ever before in postseason play.

Football Victory – Level 2 Playoffs

On Friday night, the Lancers defeated the Weyauwega-Fremont Warhawks by a score of 35–22 in the Level 2 WIAA playoff game. This win marks a historic milestone, as the Lancers advance to Level 3 of the WIAA playoffs for the first time in school history. The next game will be held at Coach Heiderich Field on Friday, November 7 at 7:00 PM.

Presale tickets are available in the MLHS office for $7.

Fans are encouraged to buy early to avoid long lines.

Volleyball – Sectional Champions!

On Saturday, the Girls Varsity Volleyball team earned the Division 3 WIAA Sectional Championship, defeating St. Mary’s Catholic in a thrilling 5-set match. The Lancers now head back to the State Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Due to our growing enrollment our Lancers are now competing in Division 3, interestingly enough three of the four teams heading to state in D3 are two of our fellow WELS schools, Luther Prep, in Watertown, and Luther, in Onalaska. Booyah Benefit! Thank you Immanuel, Shirley!

ree

SHIRLEY, WI – Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shirley recently hosted a Booyah meal to benefit Manitowoc Lutheran High School. The community event was a great success, raising just over $3,000 in support of the new gymnasium at MLHS.

The Booyah—a long-standing Wisconsin favorite—was prepared by John Calaway, whose time and effort helped make the meal a highlight for all who attended. The congregation and community came together in wonderful fellowship and generosity, reflecting their shared commitment to Christian education.

Manitowoc Lutheran High School extends its sincere thanks to Immanuel Lutheran Church for their faithful support. “We are deeply grateful for the kindness and partnership shown by our Lancer Family friends at Immanuel,” said representatives from MLHS. “Their gift helps us continue to make the most of the blessings God has provided through our new gym and all the ministry it supports.”

Immanuel Lutheran’s efforts are a reminder of the strong connections among the congregations that make up the Manitowoc Lutheran Federation and their shared mission to nurture young people in Christian faith and service.

Reed Students Experience Professional Coaching Thanks to Heid Music

This week, MLHS reed students had the unique opportunity to learn from Dr. Laura McLaughlin, a professional clarinetist and educator from the Chicago area, thanks to a special visit arranged by Heid Music. Dr. McLaughlin worked closely with students on advanced breathing techniques and tone production, offering expert insights that enriched their musical understanding.

Students also had the chance to test out a variety of new reeds, experiencing firsthand how different materials and cuts can influence sound quality. It was a hands-on, ear-opening experience that deepened their appreciation for the nuances of woodwind performance.

A big thank you to Heid Music for making this valuable learning opportunity possible!
