Fall Festival & Concert
The MLHS Accents are hosting a silent auction for the upcoming Fall Festival with in-person and online bidding on Sunday, October 26th. The Fall Concert begins at 4pm in the gym that same day. All are invited to attend! We are looking for family/friends of MLHS that are crafty, own a small business, or just love the fine arts to organize or donate baskets/items to auction off at the Fall Festival. All money raised will support the MLHS Fine Arts Department. Go to www.mlhslancers.org/fallfestival for more info. Thank you for your support! We would like to see an auction basket from the students involved in art classes, Cantate Choir, Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Lancer Singers, & Drama. The group whose basket has a combination of the most donations and the highest bid will be treated to an ice cream party compliments of the Accents. We will collect donations by using TADs accounts. If you are so moved, please see this link to donate by the end of Wednesday, October 15th. If you would like to donate to more than one group, please make a note on the donation form. We hope this will be a fun way for our fine arts students to help raise funds for the up- coming fine arts trip to Chicago!
Fall Festival Craft/Vendor Fair
We have a new addition to the Fall Festival this year—a Craft & Vendor Fair! This will be open to the public from 12-4pm on Sunday, October 26. Come early for the concert to support local talent and get a head start on your holiday shopping! Interested in reserving a booth or know someone else who might be? We welcome all original artwork and hand-crafted items to this indoor event. More information for anyone interested in reserving a booth can be found here. All registrations are first come, first served. Full details for the
Fall Festival can be found at www.mlhslancers.org/fallfestival We hope to see you there!
Meet the October Fine Arts Student of the Month!

Malachi Hacker, 11th Grade
What Fine Arts classes/activities have you been a part of so far?
Concert Choir, Lancer Singers, Jazz Band, Drama Club, Fall Play, Spring Musical, Big East Honors Choir, Les- son Program, Advanced Music The- ory, Art Intro
Non-Fine Arts Activities: Shining Through Christ, Broadcast Club
Favorite Genre of Music: Country, Christian Contemporary
Highlight of Being in Fine Arts: I have greatly grown as a musician, and I have made a lot of good friends by being in the Fine Arts program at MLHS. By being in Fine Arts, I also always have the oppor- tunity to use my gifts to praise God.
Reason for Nomination: Malachi has jumped right in as a junior. He
has played piano and organ for chapel, accompanied the Concert Choir, and even taken on the role of keyboard player for the Jazz Band. In addition he is taking Advanced Music Theory, Art Introduction, and is in the cast for "12 Angry Jurors". A complete fine arts student!
Sign Up to Volunteer!
The entire year of Fine Arts events is now ready for family & friends of MLHS to sign up to volunteer in various ways. As many of you know, volunteering to help at these events is not only enjoyable, but you also have the opportunity to meet other parents and support the students through your efforts. Symphonic Band Formal Uniform Help Needed!
The Symphonic Band students need assistance with preparing their formal wear for the Fall Concert. We need a couple adults to check returning students to make sure the uniforms still fit and then fit the new students for their uniforms. We may also need some help with basic repairs (buttons, seams, etc.) Please contact Ms. Scharf if you would be willing to help with this! We are hoping to have uniforms done by October 10th. Thanks!
WSMA Accreditation

MLHS was awarded WSMA accreditation based on last year’s participation at WSMA Solo/Ensemble and the Concert Choir, Lancer Singers & Symphonic Band being adjudicated at the large group festival at Roncalli. Our music department has received this accreditation every available year since 2018. WSMA states that only 172 high schools received WSMA accreditation this school year out of 837 high schools in the state of Wisconsin. Our goal is to meet the criteria and receive this accreditation each year at MLHS! A plaque featuring the WSMA certificate hangs in the main office and also is on display in the Mu- sic Center hallway.
