NHS Pizza Making

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who purchased pizza from our National Honor Society! Your support means the world to us and directly contributes to the success of our initiatives. On Sunday, the members of our NHS, and other volunteers worked tirelessly and efficiently, managing to make almost 1,400 pizzas in just 2.5 hours! This impressive feat not only showcases the dedication and teamwork of our students but also highlights the strong community spirit we have here. The funds raised from this monumental pizza-making endeavor will play a crucial role in helping our students embark on their Mission Trip to Victory of the Lamb Lutheran Church in Katy, Texas, which is scheduled to take place from April 3-8, 2025.

While at the church, the NHS Students will engage in a variety of meaningful activities. They will be distributing flyers in the nearby neighborhoods to promote their new preschool, which aims to provide quality early childhood education and a nurturing environment for young children. Additionally, they will also be promoting Holy Week and Easter services, inviting the community to join in and celebrate these significant events. This outreach is not only an opportunity for the students to connect with the community but also a chance to share their faith and the values of their organization. Moreover, the students will have the unique opportunity to sing and play music during the worship service, allowing them to express their talents and contribute to the spiritual atmosphere of the church. It will be a great experience for our students, as they help spread the Gospel message and make lasting memories while serving others. This mission trip will undoubtedly enrich their lives and strengthen their commitment to community service.

On Friday, March 28 - Start time 6:00pm - We welcome Mrs. Rachel Burgess for her presentation to parents The Effects of Technology on the Child’s Development and Strategies for Proper Use at home here to MLHS.

Participants of this session will study the research on technology and its impact on growing minds. Using this research as a guide, we will discuss how technology affects home, school, and social life, noting the pitfalls and dangers of misuse and overuse of technology in the home and school. Finally, we will develop skills and strategies to help parents and families decide how to use technology in the home and how to communicate these preferences to teachers and other influencers in the child’s life.

Rachel is an MLC graduate of 2002(B.S.) and 2011(M.S.). Starting as a 16-yr-old preschool aide in Houston, TX, she has served in several part-time preschool programs as well as year-round childcare centers. Her Early Childhood Ministry calls include Baton Rouge, LA (2000-01), La Crescent, MN (2002-2004), and Inver Grove Heights, MN (2005-06).
