Veterans Breakfast & Service

Written by Senior Allie Smith

On Wednesday, November 10th, Manitowoc Lutheran High School held a Veterans Breakfast & Service on campus, as a “thank you” to veterans in our community for their past and continued service to our country. With the help of students in Shining Through Christ, about 65 people—veterans and their spouses—were served pancakes, sausages, fruit, pastries, and more from 8:30-9:30 am. A special Veterans Service followed from 10:00-11:00 am with student involvement, a message by Pastor Rik Krahn, and guest speaker Abby Stuebs sharing her experience in the military.

Shining Through Christ is a group of about 30 freshmen through senior students who are passionate about helping the local community through our school. We made several planning efforts before the event to delegate roles, set up tables, and put up patriotic decorations. Students in STC then arrived early on the 10th to begin preparing breakfast. They also helped serve, deliver food, prepare drinks, greet, and talk with the veterans in attendance. Manitowoc Lutheran High School and Shining Through Christ thank all veterans for their service to our country and pray for God’s blessings moving forward!
