Lancer Boys Go 2-1 to Close the 2021 Calendar Year

The Lancer boys varsity team finished the month of December with 2 wins and 1 loss. On Dec 20th, the boys met up with Big East North opponent St. Mary Catholic at Lancer Circle, losing a close one, 81-74. The Lancers were led by the threesome of seniors Sho Fukasawa and August Hecker, and junior Luke Marohn, who all scored 16 points a piece. Junior Aidan Franzen led in rebounds with 11 followed by Hecker with 10. Hecker also had 7 assists and 3 steals in the contest.

SMC also defeated the Lancer JV1 and JV2 teams that evening. Then over the Christmas break, the Lancers played in the Big East/EWC Christmas Challenge. MLHS and Random Lake represented the Big East while Kiel and New Holstein played for the EWC (Eastern Wisconsin Conference). The Lancers took the "title" finishing 2-0. Kiel and Random Lake were 1-1 and New Holstein was 0-2. Overall the Big East finished with a record of 3-1 at that tournament. In the first game of the tournament, the Lancers faced Kiel and won by a 3 point margin, 82-79. Senior Ethan Menges played in his first game back from injury and led in scoring with 23 points with fellow senior Fukasawa contributing 21 points. Menges completed a double-double with also hauling in 14 rebounds. Hecker had 8 assists and 3 steals. In the second game, the Lancers defeated New Holstein 84-53. The Lancers were led by seniors Menges with 20 points, Hecker with 16 points and Fukasawa with 10 points. Menges had 8 rebounds and Hecker had 7 rebounds as well as 10 assists. The Lancers (4-6) (1-5 Big East North) have their last non-conference game of the season and will travel to face N.E.W Green Bay Lutheran on Tuesday. N.E.W is currently 7-1 with victories over Kewaunee and Sturgeon Bay. Head Coach Scott Loberger commented, "This game will be a good test to see how the Lancers are progressing in their season. It should be the first week that we will have all 12 players at full strength for the first time this season." JV2 starts the night with tip off at 4:30pm. JV1 will be at approximately 6:00pm, and varsity at 7:30pm.


Friday, the Lancers return home for a conference matchup against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah (4-3) (3-3 conference). JV2 starts the night off at 4:30pm against Wrightstown High School. JV1 plays Elkhart Lake at 5:50pm, with the varsity tip off at 7:15pm.
