The Lancer boys basketball team split its games in the final week of regular season play.
On Monday night the Lancers had their final home game of the season and hosted the Indians from Mishicot High School, coming away with a 73-56 victory. Leading the way for the Lancers was senior Ethan Menges with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Noah Czarneski added 15 points. Senior August Hecker contributed 12 points, 6 assists and 2 steals. Junior Aidan Franzen hauled down 7 rebounds, and senior Sho Fukasawa had 6 assists.
On Friday night the Lancers traveled to face the #2 Div. 4 state-ranked Crusaders from Sheboygan Lutheran. The Lancers lost the game, 85-50 behind Hecker's 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Menges had 7 points and 11 rebounds and Czarneski also had 7 points.
Our boys JV teams finished their seasons last week. JV1 lost to Sheboygan Lutheran and end the season with an 11-11 record. Last week JV2 beat Cedar Grove Belgium, but also lost to Sheboygan Lutheran, and finish with a 5-14 record.
The Lancers boys varsity starts WIAA regional play this week, traveling to face Oconto High School on Tuesday night at 7pm in the first round of the playoffs. We received the 9th seed while the Blue Devils received the 8th seed in our region of the WIAA Division 4 bracket. Oconto finished with a regular season record of 12-12 and were 6th in the Packerland Conference, while our Lancers finished with a 13-11 record and finished in 4th place in the Big East North. If you cannot make it to the game, you can listen to the broadcast on WOMT Radio (1240AM/107.9FM). The winner of Tuesday's game travels to face regional top seed Roncalli High School (20-3) on Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm, and that game will be broadcast on WCUB (980AM/97.1FM). The winner of Friday's game will then advance to the Regional Championship game on Saturday, location and opponent TBD.
