Lady Lancers Defeat Kohler; Fall to Mishicot

The Lady Lancers basketball team went 1-1 in its games at home last week, defeating Big East South team Kohler 56-38 Tuesday, but then falling in a conference game to state-ranked Mishicot 49-36 Friday.

Ten Lancer players scored in the game against the Blue Bombers Tuesday, led by senior Aubry Schleis, who was a 3-point machine, sinking 5 shots beyond the arc for a team-high 15 points. Junior Mallory Mehlhorn added 9.

Friday against Mishicot the Lancers were down 30-15 at halftime, but then came on strong in the second half, managing to get within 6 points with three minutes to go in the game. We had to foul as time wound down, and the Indians sealed the win at the free throw line. Junior Jenna Lischka led all scorers with 12 points; seniors Emily Marohn and MonRaye Ermis each had 7.

In JV action last week, JV1 defeated both Kohler and Mishicot, and JV2 won against N.E.W. Lutheran, 55-8.

This week the Lancers (3-3, 1-2 Big East North) once again have both a conference game and cross-division game, this time going on the road for both games. Tuesday we travel for a 7:15pm tip-off (5:50pm JV1) against Cedar Grove-Belgium (3-3, 1-2 Big East South), and then Friday we meet St. Mary Catholic (6-1. 1-1 conf.) for a Big East North game, also a 7:15pm tip-off (5:50pm JV1). Our JV2 team hosts Freedom Friday night at 7pm, and then travels to N.E.W. Lutheran Saturday morning for an 11:30am game.

God’s blessings to all of our girls basketball teams in their games this week!
