The Lancer boys defeated the Rams from Random Lake at Lancer Circle this past Tuesday evening. The Lancers were down by one at halftime but outscored the Rams by ten in the second half to pick up the 67-58 victory. Senior Sho Fukasawa led the team in scoring with 21 points while sophomore Noah Czarneski chipped in 17. Senior Ethan Menges and Czarneski each recorded 8 rebounds. Senior August Hecker contributed 7 assists.
On Friday the boys traveled to Reedsville to take on the undefeated and WIAA D5 #1 state-ranked Panthers. The Lancers forced overtime, but came up two points short in the end, losing 50-52. The boys battled back from being down by ten at halftime. Menges led the Lancer team in scoring with 12 points, followed by Czarneski with 9 and junior Aidan Franzen with 8. Hecker had 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Fukasawa recorded 4 assists as well as 3 steals.
The Lancers are now 7-8 overall, with a conference record of 4-6 in the Big East North which puts them in 5th place. Additionally, the boys have won 5 of their last 7 games with their two losses being against teams that were ranked in the top four of their respective state divisions. Another fun fact: The Lancers are now at 4 games in a row where the opposing team has gotten at least one technical foul.
In JV1 action this past week, the Lancers picked up two wins, against Random Lake and Reedsville, and are now 8-5 on the season. Against Random Lake, all 11 players were able to see court time with 10 of them scoring. Our boys JV2 squad lost to New Holstein on Friday night.
This week the Lancers face the Warriors from Ozaukee High School at Ozaukee on Tuesday night. The Warriors are 5-8 overall coming off a win over Hilbert and two very close games against quality opponents in Sheboygan Lutheran and Elkhart Lake. JV1 starts the night off at 5:50pm, with varsity to follow at approximately 7:15pm. JV2 plays at Sheboygan Lutheran on Tuesday with a start time of 4:30pm.
