Alumni Newsletter Winter 2023

A Message from the Director of Mission Advancement

Dear Alumni,

As we approach the joyous season of Christmas, I extend warm greetings to each of you from your high school.  "I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11. It also brings me immense pleasure to share the wonderful news of the great school year we've had so far. We received a great report card from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and there is great progress on the building of our new gym on campus.  Another bit of news this year is a milestone in terms of student population.  We have grown to an enrollment of 250 including 80 freshmen – the largest freshman class in a good number of years. Our halls are filled with the eager energy of these new students, and their presence has added an extra layer of enthusiasm to our close-knit community.

Speaking of community, we warmly invite all our esteemed choir alumni to join us in celebrating the magic of Christmas at our upcoming concert. Your voices have echoed through our school's history, and it would be an honor to have you reunite with current choir members for this special occasion. Your presence would be a wonderful addition to our Christmas concerts on Thursday, December 21st.  We will be having an small reception in the Mertens Lounge at the Capitol Civic Center after the 4:30 PM concert for ALL ALUMNI.  Please consider joining us for that.  All are welcome, including those that are not involved with singing in the concert.

We hope that you enjoy this second edition of our newly minted Alumni Newsletter.  There is a lot of information here, but if there are topics that you think should be shared that we have missed.  Please email me and we will do our best to include those ideas in future newsletters.  Again, it is our plan to send these out to you each quarter.  Please look for this email again in March on the 15th.

As you embark on your holiday festivities, may the warmth and joy of Christmas fill your hearts. We express our deepest gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our school's legacy. Your presence, whether in person or in spirit, enriches the tapestry of our community.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas and a joyous New Year.

In Christ,

Kevin M. Buch

Capital Campaign News

To keep up with everything happening in the Captital Campaign, each week on Facebook and Instgram we feature 'Buidling Our Future On Christ-Weekly Updates'. Don't worry, if you are not a user to either of these social media services you can still keep up with our progress. The vidoes are posted each week and linked to our website. Below is an example of two of our latest updates.

Attention Choir Alumni!

This year we would like to invite all MLHS Alumni to join us in singing the final song at the MLHS Christmas Concert.  It has always been a great blessing to proclaim the Word in song at every MLHS Christmas Concert!  Would you please join us?

Our concerts are on Thursday, December 21st at 4:30pm and 7:30pm.  Joy to the World will be the last song of the concert.  Join us in singing at either concert or better yet, sing at both!

Please spread the word! We would love to have a large showing of the 68 years of students singing with us and singing the praises of the Christ-child / celebrating Christmas with us!

We will have an alumni gathering in the Mertens Lounge at the CCC after the first concert.

Attention graduates ending in 4 & 9, you are coming up on a milestone year, congratulations!

Class of: 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004, 2014

Class of: 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999, 2009, 2019

We would love to be involved in the planning of your class reunion. We really need the most current contact information that you can provide. Please click the button below and complete the thirty-second survey to enable us to help your class celebrate!

Planning a Reunion? We are here to help!

Please contact Kevin Buch at kmbuch@mlhslancers.org or 920-973-0465 in the Mission Advancement Office when when you begin the process; we have many options to take advantage of when planning your reunion.

SAVE THE DATE

Let us do the work and send out a Save the Date notification email. MLHS recommends that you send this out six months prior to the reunion. (A postcard will be mailed to any classmates who do not have an email)

  • MLHS can design the save the date announcement/image. All we need from you is the following: (If you have a design in mind we can work with you.)

    • Date of the Reunion

    • Time of Reunion

    • Location of Reunion

    • Any extra information you want on there.

    • If you have an image you would like included you can attach it to your reply.

Please Note: You will receive a list of your classmates and their contact information to verify before we send out the Save the Date. That list will come to your email soon, so watch for that.

INVITATION

Let us do the work and send out your Class Reunion invitation. MLHS recommends that you send this out six to eight weeks in advance of your reunion. The invitation will look similar to the save the date, but will include all of the detail about your reunion that you provide.

PROMOTION OF YOUR REUNION ON MLHS SOCIAL MEDIA

MLHS is happy to help promote your reunion through our social media, website, and upcoming publications. If you form a social media group, we can share a link to that as well!

BOOKLET

Let us put together a Class Reunion Booklet for you to share!

This booklet would contain any updated information that your classmates want to share. Their updates are collected by having them all fill out an online form. A link to that form would be included on the Save the Date email/mailing, or on the invite, whichever you prefer.

MLHS will print them all out for you and have them available for you to share at the class reunion. A digital copy can also be sent to everyone. This is a nice feature especially for those that are not able to make it to the reunion.

TOURS OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL

A lot has changed since you have graduated, and we would love to share these blessings with you. This is a guided tour with lots of fun facts and maybe even some stories you didn’t know about. These tours tend to bring out memories from your time at MLHS. You might even learn about something you never even knew about!

SPEAKER AT YOUR REUNION

If you would like someone to come to your celebration and give a presentation on MLHS, or be available for a short Question and Answer Session, we can line up someone to do just that!

PHOTOGRAPHER?

Would you like an MLHS representative to come and take some updated class pictures? Don’t worry about finding someone in the building to take the picture! Just let us know and we can provide someone to take a class picture and some candids too! For 1 hour of your reunion we can capture the memories for you!

VIDEO MONTAGE/SLIDESHOW:

If you would like MLHS to put together a short video of your times here at MLHS from photos that we have on file or photos submitted from your classmates, we can do that too! This feature will depend on whether there is enough turned in to make a montage. Some classes have each person’s senior picture on the screen with any updated photo they submit along side of it. Sort of like a “that was then, this is now” type display. Of course, all of this depends on what can be pulled together. On the Save the Date and Invitation, we would include instructions on how classmates could submit their photos or short video clips for the montage.
