HOMECOMING 2024

The video above was edited by one of our current students, senior Gabriel Stuebs in our Digital Media course this fall. Homecoming week was as active as ever, a big thank you to our student council for hosing great events each day and once again a fantastic homecoming dance.

If you missed the homecoming football game this year you missed the event of the season, and no I don't mean the game, I am talking about the exciting first ever homecoming halftime Amazing Alumni Race! Our two competitors were Michael Duveneck ('93) and Aiden Wagner ('23). Some doubted the odds of the elder competitor against a young man who is currently in school training to be a firefighter. As former Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi once said "Age and treachery will overcome youth and skill", rang true once again on homecoming evening. Old Fausto would have been proud of Michael as he put the naysayers to rest, narrowly defeating Aiden by a razor thin margin!

What was this wild adventure these competitors agreed to? Starting in the endzone after 'On your Mark, Get Set, GO!' they guys put on a the jersey, ran to the 10-yard line picked up a tackling dummy and carried it to the 20-yard line. Next they grabbed a football and had to throw it into the garbage can on the 30-yard line. Next they had to crawl through the tackling donut on the 40-yard line. They then attempted to throw souvenir balls into the stands from the 50-yard line, this was a fail. Only halfway done they next had to squirt a mouth off a helmet with a water bottle from 10-yards away, upon completing that they had to throw footballs from the 30-yard line to the dummy at the 20-yard line to knock it over, Last, but most certainly not least they had to put on a helmet and sprint into the endzone and do a touchdown dance! It surely was an event to remember!

We also send out email reminders leading up to the reunion to try to capture an accurate number of attendees for you. You have options of having tours of your alma mater, short presentation from a MLHS representative, booklets and/or directories of your classmates contact information, and the representative can also take pictures for you too! MLHS provides a link to upload photos to your class gallery for everyone to enjoy. We like to also provide some MLHS door prizes and reunion favors for everyone to enjoy. Don’t take our word for it. Here is some feedback received from your fellow alumni. “Everything went great and Kevin was very helpful.  I appreciated all that MLHS offered and was of such valuable help.”  I can't think of anything that MLHS could improve on.  They offered so much, (tour of the high school, putting a slide show together, offering to speak as well as taken photo's at the reunion, not to mention the books that were a hit.

Start planning your reunion with us today by reaching out to Michelle (Busse) Luebke (’93), the Director of Alumni and Donor Relations at mluebke@mlhslancers.org. We look forward to serving you! “Once a Lancer, Always a Lancer!”
