My Story

Hello everyone. My name is Jiami Ye, and I am from China. I really enjoy listening to cheerful music and recording every beautiful moment in my life. This makes me feel how wonderful life is, as if everything is as comforting as the happiness that music brings to me.

There are 4 members in my family: my father, my mother, my younger brother, and me. We often have meals together and chat together during our free time on weekends. We even have a short chat on the way home when my parents pick me up from school. My father likes drinking tea, which has influenced me to like drinking tea too. On Sundays, we go to church together for gatherings to listen to God's words, which is also a kind of happiness. Our family lives in harmony. During winter and summer vacations, my parents also take my younger brother and me out to see the different world outside.

There are three main reasons why I want to study in Manitowoc Lutheran High School. First, in China, the education here is repressive. Students study just for exams and grades, which goes against the original purpose of education. The pressure from schools makes students feel very nervous, tired, and unmotivated. Second, in China, many people stop studying hard after being admitted to university. But I believe that learning is endless and a lifelong matter, not a temporary one. Learning is for myself to gain knowledge, develop my potential, and improve my thinking ability. I don't want to waste my life, so I want to pursue a broader world. Third, your school focuses on Christian education. My parents are both preachers, so I also value this kind of religious education. At the same time, I can gain a deeper understanding of the Bible, which I think is very good.
