About Me

Hello! My name is Tingting, and I am from Wenzhou, China. It’s a warm coastal city known for its seafood and beauty. I am going to be a sophomore at MLHS next year, but I am actually 17 years old. My parents agreed that coming a couple grades below would help me become fully fluent in English, as well as help me relearn classes in a new language. I don’t mind taking sophomore classes again, since it will help me with my English skills, and secure my grades for college.

 

In my free time, I like to listen to music. I also like to play the guqin, which is a stringed Chinese instrument. I also enjoy learning new skills. I’ll always be doing something new when you see me! I am not very big on sports, but I want to get better while I am at MLHS. Health is important and I want to make it a priority! I like writing, watching shows, and talking with family when I get the chance as well.

 

Actually, one of the things I am looking for in a host family are parents who are open to discussion. I love to talk! I deeply care for my family, so I hope my host family is warm and kind to me. I love pets and young children, so the more the merrier! As a Christian, it will also be nice to be around other Christians.

 

The Chinese education system can be hard, so I am excited to learn at an American school and hear about other cultures. I hear MLHS has an encouraging environment! I am a little nervous about only speaking English, since I am not as good as I wish to be. I know I will get better as time goes on though!
